Heading down to the Shore Memorial Day Weekend, or are you here already and getting ready for the season’s first outdoor parties? Don’t interrupt your weekend by going to the supermarket – stop by Dean’s Friday the 24th for our big SUPER SUMMER KICKOFF celebration! Stock up on party essentials like our signature Organic Guacamole & Salsa, chips and snacks, hot dogs, buns, condiments, the works. And don’t forget the natural insect repellent and sunblock 🙂

There’s more – everyone who comes in wearing a Hawaiian shirt or a lei gets a raffle ticket for a chance at one of 3 tote bags stuffed with groceries PLUS a $50 DEAN’S GIFT CARD! …but you HAVE to wear a Hawaiian shirt and/or lei! (or at least be super-psyched to be there 🙂  )

Restore the Shore Weekend

We are super-excited and proud to announce our partnership with Restore the Shore, Hometown Heroes and 94.3 The Point to bring you RESTORE THE SHORE WEEKEND, taking place Saturday and Sunday, March 23d & 24th in all 3 of our stores. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for local non-profit Hometown Heroes for their Sandy relief efforts – are you in?

We will be donating a percentage of our weekend sales from all 3 stores – 2 days, 3 stores – to Hometown Heroes and 100% of that will go to helping local people affected by Sandy. But we can’t do it and reach the goal without you. We invite you to stop in, shop up and stock up, knowing that your participation will go towards helping the families in our own communities, our backyards, local people we all know who have lost their homes and have had to relocate, have been struggling trying to buy a new furnace and hot water heater, drywall, schoolbooks, you name it – all due to that fateful day when Superstorm Sandy made landfall and changed lives forever.

We urge you to not only come in for the usual, but to take the opportunity to stock up on frozen and non-perishables, things you know will get used and know that your actions will directly help those around us.

We’ll have some fun, too! the crew from 94.3 The Point radio station will be in Shrewsbury on Saturday, 3/23 and in Ocean on Sunday, both from 11-1 giving out prizes, hosting games and giveaways. We’ll also be giving away limited edition Restore the Shore reusable bags and if you spend over $50, you’ll get a raffle ticket to win a family pack of beach badges to the Jersey Shore (which beaches to choose from will be determined closer to the season). There will be huge sales and lots of food sampling and demos on our days with the Point; plus, did we mention the Juice Bar official Restore the Shore drink for the weekend? Who’s going to watch the big game this weekend? Political correctness dictates that Dean’s has no official stance or preference on who wins, but then again, we ARE born-and-bred New Jersey folk, soooo… *cough*cough*bigblue*ahem*cough*

If you’re subscribed to our newsletters, you already know that we’ve got a crazy sale going on – Organic Avocados on sale for only 99¢ each (!!!) ((and who knows how much lower they’ll be on Super (Bowl) Sunday!))

We are ready to rock some guac!

In the Great Spirit of Holy Guacamole, here’s a really easy and yummy recipe that even a first-timer can make and impress your guests with. It’s both vegan and raw to boot.

Holy Guacamole, Batman!
2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
1 medium lime, juiced
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
2 tbsp chopped cilantro
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tspblack pepper
1 tbsp finely chopped jalapeño pepper

Place the avocados and lime in a medium bowl and mash with a fork. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Serve immediately with your favorite chips or veggies or cover and chill for up to 3 hours.

Does a third time make something officially a tradition? Halloween Weekend & Other Things

Big weekend coming up – Halloween on deck! We’ve got a Halloween costume contest going on between the employees of both stores on Monday, should be pretty fun, I’ll post pictures next week. What are you going to be for Halloween?

But before that, this Sunday is Super Sunday! Once a month we bring you a great day of sales, sampling and demos and this time we’re dedicating it to allergy-friendly foods in honor of our special guest speaker Sloane Miller. Enjoy samples from great companies such as Mary’s Gone Crackers, Enjoy Life Foods, Glutino and many more. Our friends from Heart Juice will be there too, sampling out their delicious heart-healthy antioxidant-packed berry drinks. Keep a lookout on Friday when we post what the sales will be, there are some good ones!

Watch for big changes in the coming weeks, including a new and improved JUICE BAR MENU. We’ve been taste-testing new drinks in the stores, listening to your feedback and pretty soon, we’ll have an outstanding updated menu for you with offerings like…well, I can’t tell you yet 🙂  You’ll just have to come in and try for yourself. And don’t worry, all your tried ‘n’ true old favorites aren’t going anywhere, promise!

Look at these new organic StarKrimson Pears we just got it, the color is as amazing as the taste. Very floral and fruity.
